Recipient of Ontario Arts Council Grant for Literary Creation

I’m so pleased to announce that I’ve been awarded an Ontario Arts Council grant for literary creation for my non-fiction work, Girls Need Not Apply, which has been bought in preempt with Penguin Random House/McClelland and Stewart. The book will publish in June 2019, and I couldn’t be more excited to work with Jenny Bradshaw, senior editor at M&S.

I tell my students that it is very difficult to make a living as a writer in Canada. Money is scare, and making a living from royalties alone isn’t always plausible. I’m so grateful that the OAC sees the value in Canadian content, Canadian stories, and prioritizes Indigenous artists and artists with disabilities.
