I’m so excited to see that my article, “Battle Fatigue,” appears in the Winter issue of Maisonneuve Magazine, a literary magazine based out of Montreal. “Battle Fatigue” addresses sexual harassment in the Canadian Armed Forces, and while I am a proud CAF veteran, I am also a louder and prouder feminist.
This article was a true challenge to write. The women I spoke with, fellow veterans, were sharing some of their most private stories with me; stories of pain and fear but above all, bravery and persistence. I spent hours and hours interviewing these female veterans, even more countless hours writing and revising, and even more time coping with the emotions between the lines.
I am grateful for the women who spoke with me, and the women who have been forced into silence. We will be heard.
