Teaching/Lectures

On top of writing and editing services, Kelly also teaches creative writing, with experience teaching teens and adults and children and courses taken in teaching creative writing and facilitating online learning. She has also given lectures and speeches to large groups of various forms.

Teaching:

(Upcoming) January 2018 – Onwards – Sessional Instructor – Trent University
-Instruct “Workplace Communication,” a 2nd-year course for undergraduate students on writing and editing skills for clear, concise and persuasive workplace writing.
-Instruct “Creative Writing Life,” a 2nd-year course for undergraduate students to serve as a bridge between literary criticism study and creative writing.

(Upcoming) October 2017 – Onwards – Creative Writing Course Facilitator – Royal Roads University
-Will create a course titled “Telling True Stories,” teaching creative non fiction techniques and skills
-Will create a course titled “So You Want to Be a Freelance Writer,” on technical and practical elements to freelance business
-Instruct lessons, provide markups, hold office hours
-Facilitated online and in person

January 2015 – April 2015 – Creative Writing Instructor – Creative Writing for Children Society
-Instruct children aged 8-13 on creative writing skills and technique
-Create lessons and imaginative exercises for the children

January 2014 – April 2014 – Teacher Assistant – University of British Columbia
-Instructed lesson on New Media and Blogging
-Graded student assignments and quizzes
-Held office hours to counsel students

August 2014 – Creative Writing Instructor – Camp Goodtimes 

June 2014 – Creative Writing Instructor- Creative Writing for Children Society Summer Camp
-Instruct teenagers ages 12-17 on creative non fiction
-Instruct on creative non fiction to teenage students

November 2012 – July 2013- Hot Ink Creative Writing Program Facilitator
-Created lessons and writing exercises to teenage girls ages 13-18.
-Delivered lessons in weekly classes.
-Engaged teens in conversation about writing craft and skills.
